Carl Sandburg :After trying various jobs, fighting in the Spanish-American War, and graduating from Lombard College, he became a journalist in Chicago. He won the Pulitzer Prize in 1940 for 2 biographies on Lincoln, and again in 1950 for his Complete Poems.
